Transfer Policy
Lower division transfer students with fewer than 60 credit hours must meet all of FSU's CoreFSU requirements, except for those that are transferred in from the previous institution. Starting in Fall 2018, Civic Literacy is required of all transfer students with the exception of those who started as a degree-seeking student at another Florida public college or university prior to Fall 2018.
AA Transfers from a Florida Institution
For students having completed an AA at another Florida institution, the previously completed coursework will be understood to have met all of the initial 36 hours of FSU's CoreFSU requirements. The student must still meet certain graduation requirements at FSU or with credit transferred from another institution, which includes the following required coursework:
- one Scholarship in Practice course or approved Formative Experience
- one Diversity course
- Oral Communication Competency and Digital Literacy requirements
- one Upper-Division Writing course
- one Natural Sciences Lab course
The Scholarship in Practice, Upper-Division Writing, Oral Communication Competency, and Digital Literacy requirements may be met by required coursework in the student's major.
Upper-Division Transfers with 60+ Credit Hours
For upper-division transfer students who have completed at least 60 credit hours at another institution, courses will be transferred individually as appropriate. Students who have not yet met the requirements for Florida's Statewide Core will need to complete the core.
These students must also meet FSU graduation requirements, which include the following:
- one Scholarship in Practice course or approved Formative Experience
- one Diversity course
- Oral Communication Competency and Digital Literacy requirements
- one Upper-Division Writing course
- one Natural Sciences Lab course
The Scholarship in Practice, Upper-Division Writing, Oral Communication Competency, and Digital Literacy requirements may be met by required coursework in the student's major.
